My Spacehey profile
Other Spacehey profiles usually have this quirk to them, it compliments the person behind it. Sometimes it can be completely hand coded and the profile is like a decorated bird's nest with every piece used to add to the bird's nest is something that means a lot to the person behind it.
I would describe Spacehey profiles as rooms decorated with selectively picked furniture. Pre-made layouts are pre-furnished rooms and tinkering with the CSS code is just moving the furniture around or giving it a paint job. Rooms can mean absolutely anything, from a comforting bedroom to a busy kitchen to a sterile office. There doesn't have to be any walls containing it, I could describe some Spacehey profiles to be in the outdoors, or else within outer space.
What would be the room equivalent to my Spacehey profile? An interrogation room. My profile in particular seems aggressively unremarkable, plain enough to drown out within static. The background is a mucky brown and the color of the writing is an off-white, like something is stained. Maybe by black coffee even though I personally don't drink coffee.
Even then I doubt there would be much furniture in my interrogation room asides from the bare essentials. There are no windows or any pictures hung up on the walls. There is no specified craftsmanship in the chairs or the table, they'd look like the type of chairs and table you've already seen a million times before. There would be no lights, you'll have to use your phone or a flashlight or rely on any external light from the outside to navigate the place.
With all of this talk about my profile, maybe I've specifically coded the CSS to be like that way. I don't want to impress people with how many eye-catching colors I could cram before I got sick of pasting in hex codes, I don't want to scavenge various sites just to round up with 10 blinkies and 4 pixels at the end of the day. I certainly don't want to make trips to catbox moe's shoppe anymore, those days are over.
I want it to be just my words and your thoughts in the pauses.
Other Spacehey profiles are a little more friendly by giving you various pretty images, animations and gradients to look at, to distract yourself. In my profile, all you will ever recieve are words, words and words. There is no escapism to be found and you'll only ever be able to acknowledge what I want to say instead of looking to the side and going "oh that's a nice background!" and ignorantly avoid my written bio on who I am as a person.
That's why I said my profile is like an interrogation room. There are no visual distractions and all your attention is focused on my words until I stop talking, the silence becomes deafening as you are driven to come up with your input just to desperately break it.
My profile is mean and has no filter, it doesn't try to compensate it's bare abrasiveness by looking cute or familiar such as being a pure white or a pure black. It's not unintentional though, my profile chooses to be a jerk, it chose to be "ugly" and aesthetically UNpleasing. My profile is a bit of an eccentric person, even in spaces where it's acceptable to stand out my profile decided to wear it's most plain clothing it could find in it's wardrobe.
But if everyone could stand out with glittery y2k geocities styled profile, then is anyone ever standing out? maybe my profile is more different, even though it thought it was being more like the others by being plain.
Regardless, my profile is fugly but I don't want to change it. I'm not lazy or anything! I just actively refuse to.
